David J. Moore, CFP® Co-Founder and Chairman

Mr. Moore is the co-founder and Managing Partner and has provided visionary leadership focusing on providing exemplary service to all external constituents of clients, advisors, money managers, endowments, institutions, etc. Prior to founding Compass in 1996, Mr. Moore began his career at American Express Financial Advisors. He has hired, mentored and trained over 150 advisors and has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Mr. Moore is an active speaker on efficient investing, practice management and asset allocation and serves or has served on numerous corporate and non-profit advisory boards.

Education:  Studied Business and Criminal Law at Ohio State University, College for Financial Planning, Certified Financial Planner (“CFP”) designation.

Stephen M. Hammers, CIMA Co-Founder, Chief Investment Officer

As Compass’ Chief Investment Officer, Mr. Hammers directs all of the Company’s investment activities, asset allocation and portfolio management. In addition, he oversees all internal strategies and research.  Prior to the merger of Compass EMP, Mr. Hammers began his career with Merrill Lynch & Co. and was the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Trinity Planning and Consulting. Mr. Hammers has over 17 years of experience in the asset management industry.

Mr. Hammers is an active speaker on efficient investing, alternative investing and asset allocation. Mr. Hammers has been quoted in numerous publications including The Wall Street Journal, Smart Money, Barons, Investment News and Bloomberg to name a few. Mr. Hammers is also a frequent quest contributor on CNBC, Fox Business, and Bloomberg TV.

Education: Bachelor of Science, Middle Tennessee State University; Certified Investment Management Analyst (“CIMA”), The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and Investment Management Consultants Association. 

Robert W. “Rob” Walker, Jr., MBA President

Mr. Walker joined Compass in 2009 and serves as President. He is responsible for all operational, financial and administrative activities for Compass EMP.

Prior to joining Compass, Mr. Walker’s 20 year career began with commercial banking with Regions Financial and investment banking on Wall Street with Merrill Lynch & Co. (now part of Bank of America). Mr. Walker has held several senior operating and financial positions with operating companies and private equity investment companies. Most recently, he has managed Hothead Partners, a management consulting company offering advisory services in strategic planning, capital raising and business growth initiatives. 

Education: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Samford University, summa cum laude;  Masters in Business Administration, Harvard Business School.  

David Hallum Vice President, Trading

Mr. Hallum joined Compass in 2005 and oversees the trading components of the Company’s portfolios. In his role, he assists in portfolio implementation and rebalancing, and participates in investment manager due diligence.  

Mr. Hallum has held various positions in financial services for the past 21 years.

Education: Bachelor of Arts from Auburn University.

Mike Organ Vice President, Sales

Mike oversees several areas of the sales and marketing organization and has direct responsibility for all internal sales representatives and sales operations. Mr. Organ joined Compass EMP in 2004 in a national sales capacity.

Prior to joining Compass, Mr. Organ's previous opportunities included operations and auditing functions with several Fortune 500 corporations.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Harding University, MBA from Harding University
